The Unione forense per la tutela dei diritti umani (“UFTDU”) is an association of lawyers, founded on 2nd March 1968, with the aim to spread the knowledge of national and international rules on human rights protection, and to promote the actual and effective observance of those rights at the judicial, administrative and legislative level. In order to achieve its goals, UFTDU has identified, throughout the years, four strategic areas of action: EDUCATION AND TRAINING, ADVOCACY, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, and MEDIATION.
The Association is particularly engaged in the fields of:
- RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
- IMMIGRATION AND ASYLUM
- RIGHT TO HEALTH
- CHILDREN’S RIGHTS
- FREEDOM OF THE PRESS AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
In 2011 UFTDU has constituted two organs, subsidiary to the work of the Association:
- the Centre for the education and the research, regularly registered, on 27th July 2010, among the subjects and the bodies qualified to organize formative courses according to Ministerial Decree no. 222/2004. The centre yearly organises the Training course for professional mediators;
- the Centre for the negotiation and the mediation (NEG – MED), body of mediation registered as a body qualified to mediate conflicts, according to art.3 of the D.M. 18th October 2010 n.180. It performs all the functions expected by the Legislative Decree no. 28/2010, concerning negotiation and mediation in civil, commercial and social matters, with a particular focus on the resolution of conflicts in which fundamental rights and needs of the person are at stake.
